Bentley operated successfully for 36 years before becoming public in 2020, with a strong commitment to effective governance. As a public company, we now have established ESG accountability at the board level, created a cross functional steering committee of Bentley executives, and have formalized the rigor of our ESG policies and disclosures.
A Diverse and Global Organization
Board of Directors
Formal board oversight of ESG is the responsibility of the Sustainability Committee. The Sustainability Committee meets quarterly to assess the company’s ESG strategy and performance.
Bentley’s executive management team has operational responsibility for ESG strategy and implementation, and accountability for performance on ESG goals and objectives.
ESG Steering Committee
Bentley established an ESG steering committee of key cross-functional managers who meet regularly to drive progress on ESG strategy, reporting, and initiatives.
Bentley has established board-level accountability and oversight of ESG through our Sustainability Committee, a board committee of independent directors of Bentley Systems. The Sustainability Committee meets regularly to review and approve the company’s ESG strategy and reporting plans, and directly coordinates with the leadership of the ESG Steering Committee, executive leaders of all Bentley functional groups.
