I had never even heard of digital twins before the (iTwin4Good) programme, but ... being able to understand how the technology works has completely transformed the way I think and broadened my perspective on the possibilities of my ideas in ways I had never imagined before.
As an industry, the young people coming with skills to be able to link design, construction, planning, through one particular software in this case, Bentley, gives them a unique skill set that makes them stand out from anyone else that we’ve got an interview.
The young generations, as they step much more rapidly into the digital world, SYNCHRO is a very good avenue for them to collaborate much more effectively, realize the value of the data and information being shared about our industry and how they can even automate solutions out of it.
I thought this year’s AISC Student Steel Bridge Competition was an amazing experience. Personally, I got a lot better at overcoming obstacles and communicating with team members. I also enjoyed being able to continue expanding my knowledge of Bentley software and work in steel design. I’m graduating this year and I’m excited about starting my career as a civil engineer.
I enjoyed the design work involved in the [AISC Student Steel Bridge] competition; it has been a great way to get hands-on experience beyond what we learn in class.
The amazing collaboration between Bentley Systems and Michigan Technological University seeks to give civil engineering students and professionals a boost for their preparedness and success in the workplace. The open source modules about transportation design, geotechnical engineering, construction scheduling and bridge design serve as primers for young engineers to build upon or even refreshers for working engineers. Moreover, the material is a great review for those preparing for the PE exam. More modules to come and I can't wait!
