How BIM Engineering and Construction Became a Rising Star with ProjectWise

Bimeco, 2025 Rising Star finalist

Bimeco, Singapore

For Bimeco, a simple question changed everything: What’s the difference between providing a person and delivering an outcome? This is the story of how that question led them to become a Rising Star finalist.

BIM Engineering & Construction is based in Singapore and partners with project owners, architects, engineering consultancies, and builders to drive seamless digital delivery workflows.

Bentley Solutions: BIM, STAAD & ProjectWise

How BIM Engineering and Construction became a Rising Star with ProjectWise

What’s the difference between providing a person and delivering an outcome? For Ivan Tang, director of Bimeco, that isn’t a philosophical question. It redefined how the company delivers outcome driven BIM and digital delivery services.

With a long history as a Bentley training partner, the Singapore-based company started out by providing BIM specialists for projects. However, Ivan noticed an uncomfortable truth. “The model of just putting a head count at a customer’s office didn’t meet their needs, because it is not outcome-based,” he explained.

That realization changed everything. Bimeco was reborn with a new mission: not just to fill seats, but to act as a true digital integrator, ensuring end-to-end project success. To do this, they needed technology that was as flexible as their new vision, capable of uniting the diverse software used across the industry.

Why ProjectWise enabled open BIM collaboration

Their choice was Bentley’s ProjectWise, selected for its openness and strength as a common data envrionment (CDE) for infrastructure digital delivery.”We chose ProjectWise because it’s interoperable with all BIM software,” Tang stated. “Being able to federate different model data, whether from Revit, Tekla, or STAAD, allows our customers to use their preferred tools. It’s a pretty strong advantage.”

Key benefits BIM Engineering & Construction gained with ProjectWise:

  • Federated multidiscipline BIM coordination
  • Open BIM interoperability across authoring tools
  • ISO 19650 aligned data management
  • Scalable Common Data Environment (CDE) for infrastructure projects

This approach was put to the test on a major infrastructure project in Singapore. A main contractor needed to implement a complex set of Integrated Digital Delivery (IDD) requirements, including 4D scheduling, model coordination, and subcontractor management. There was also an explicit data requirement to work with the IFC+SG format, in alignment with Singapore’s direction for OpenBIM adoption via CORENET X. This alignment with Singapore’s CORENET X initiative reinforces the industry shift toward open, standards-based BIM delivery. After evaluating their options, Bimeco identified ProjectWise as the ideal fit. ProjectWise offered a cost-effective, enterprise-grade CDE solution that allows contractors to manage infrastructure data in compliance with internal standards, local regulatory requirements, and ISO 19650 requirements.

Still, for Tang, the secret to success isn’t found in complex technology, but in a surprisingly simple philosophy he calls “The Brilliant Basics.”

Brilliant
Basics

This fundamental approach, combined with a deep partnership with the local Bentley team, forms the foundation of Bimeco’s reputation. That’s why being recognized as a Rising Star finalist held a special meaning.

“It was a good validation of the path that we are on,” Tang affirmed.

What’s next for BIM Engineering & Construction:

Looking ahead, that path is clear: to continue as a premier digital integrator, using Bentley’s open technology to solve each customer’s unique challenges—and always, always doing the basics brilliantly.
