Save Energy Costs
Energy costs can reach as much as 40 percent of total operating costs, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (2013). Reducing energy costs is a clear priority, but identifying where to save these costs is challenging.
A WaterGEMS hydraulic model of the system, combined with some field measurements, can be an invaluable capability for finding these energy savings. It can help:
- Identify what you should have paid vs. what you did pay (using real energy tariffs and actual usage)
- Compare the actual operating points with the desired ones
- Identify desirable pump combinations
- Optimize pump scheduling
- Consider the effects of storage on the cost of running the system
- Find out when to use variable speed vs. constant speed pumping
