Designing the Booster Compressor Station to be constructed on permafrost ground at the Yurharovskoye oil field required multiple engineering disciplines to work simultaneously across connected facilities. To accommodate the terrain conditions and the numerous specialty engineers and engineering stages, Giprotyumenneftegaz needed an integrated system to exchange information and to facilitate the multidiscipline workflow and design processes.

Solution
Giprotyumenneftegaz created an integrated information space that allowed engineering disciplines to work in parallel and exchange information between stages using MicroStation, Bentley Descartes and Bentley PlantSpace. With 3D design technology and automated process solutions, Giprotyumenneftegaz streamlined engineering efforts to deliver a comprehensive information model that ensured an efficient and reliable process cycle for the compressor station.

Outcome
Using Bentley software to model the 3D design reduced the number of mistakes generating design documentation, automated labor-intensive processes such as detecting collisions, generating specifications, and producing cost estimates, improved design quality, and accelerated engineering time, saving Giprotyumenneftegaz 15-20% in engineering costs. Giprotyumenneftegaz implemented innovative design and engineering solutions to minimize thermal impact on soils and ensure environmental protection.

Software
Giprotyumenneftegaz used Bentley software throughout all stages of engineering, from surveying to design issuance, creating an integrated information space that facilitated the exchange of information among various engineering disciplines at different stages of the project. MicroStation and Bentley Descartes enabled Giprotyumenneftegaz to create the digital terrain model; and Bentley PlantSpace was used for equipment selection, process flow diagramming, and process pipeline design.
