Botswana International University of Science & Technology (BIUST)

To foster and harness renewable energy sources to power the rapid population growth in Botswana, BIUST is exploring the potential for using Kasane Hot Spring to generate geothermal energy. Fully evaluating the site required capturing, combining, and analyzing numerous types of geophysical data. By creating an intuitive geophysics model within a single platform, the team gained a deeper understanding of the risks and benefits of the area. As a result, they anticipate identifying Kasane Hot Spring as the most suitable location for geothermal energy in Botswana, helping to sustainably alleviate the country’s energy limitations.
