Processor:

  • Intel® or AMD® 3.0 GHz for MX.

Operating System:

  • Windows 10 (64-bit)
  • Windows 8 and 8.1 (64-bit)
  • Windows 7 (64-bit)
  • Note: Windows 7 operating system is supported only if you have its service pack (SP1) installed.

Bentley does not support its software running on Microsoft operating systems versions that Microsoft has "retired." For more information see Microsoft's application retirement policy and the Bentley Application Support Lifecycle.

Memory:

  • 4 GB minimum, 16 GB or more recommended. Additional memory will almost always improve performance, particularly when working with larger models.
  • For the Visualization mode to perform well, since this machine will export your scene and author animation inside the LumenRT Live Cube, the recommended minimum is:
    • 2GHz Intel processor or faster (multi-core CPU recommended)
    • 2GB of free RAM (4GB recommended)

Disk Space:

  • Graphics card supported by DirectX 9.0. See graphics card manufacturer for latest information on DirectX drivers.
  • If insufficient video RAM or no graphics card supported by DirectX can be found, For best performance, graphics display color depth should be set to 24-bit or higher. When using a 16-bit color depth setting, some inconsistencies will be noted.
  • For the Visualization mode, we recommend:
    • NVIDIA GeForce 400 series GPU or better, or ATI Radeon 5800 series or better, with at least 1 GB of VRAM

Internet connection:

  • Internet connectivity is required to use some of the features of the product and installation of software prerequisites, if not already installed on the machine.

OpenRoads ConceptStation supports a wide range of road classes including freeways, interstates, rural minor arterials, urban collectors, and urban principal arterials. You can sketch roads, ramps, intersections, roundabouts, and tunnels using AASHTO-compliant drawing tools. Horizontal and vertical alignments are fully editable, and superelevation is calculated automatically using Method 5. Road templates make it easy to define typical cross-sections and apply street markings with minimal effort.

Yes. OpenRoads ConceptStation includes GeoCoordination Services that allow you to locate, download, and import geospatial data for any project location. Supported formats include terrain models (.DTM, .TIN), raster DEMs, GIS files (SHP, Esri File Geodatabase, OpenStreetMap), images (TIFF, JPEG, MrSID), and reality meshes (.3MX) from Bentley ContextCapture. This real-world context data is transformed into intelligent 3D models, significantly reducing time spent assembling existing condition data.

OpenRoads ConceptStation includes a dedicated cost tab that provides a high-level overview of estimated project costs. As design elements are added or modified, the refresh tool updates cost estimates in real time. You can generate detailed quantities and cost reports for each design scenario, and include allowances to reflect real-world pricing. Component materials in bridge deck templates also drive quantity and cost calculations, helping you identify high-cost items early in the planning phase.

Yes. Once your conceptual design is finalised, you can export it directly to OpenRoads Designer with a single click via the Export tab. OpenRoads ConceptStation automatically generates the .alg, .ird, .itl, and .rwk files needed to transfer geometry, templates, template drop transitions, and superelevation data. This ensures geometric integrity is maintained as your design moves from the conceptual phase into detailed design, supporting accelerated project delivery and improved design quality.

OpenRoads ConceptStation features an embedded LumenRT engine that generates photo-realistic, cinematic 3D visualisations in seconds. Simply click the Visualise tab to launch LumenRT mode, where your model is rendered in a rich environmental context complete with vehicles, water, skies, trees, and characters. You can interactively adjust time of day, apply lens flares, depth of field, and motion blur. These visualisations are ideal for presenting designs to clients, stakeholders, and the public.
