Preparing City Data for Digital Twins: Levels, Attributes, and Ready Deliverables
This session covers how to turn working models into twin-ready outputs that plug into municipal GIS, digital twin platforms, and funded programme reporting. We will demonstrate how MicroStation users organise levels, attributes, and symbology; generate map compositions and profiles; and export geometry in formats and structures expected by GIS teams and EU/local digital twin initiatives. We also cover how to keep drawing production and model exports in sync as terrain, survey, and climate datasets are updated during design iterations.
What you will learn: How to define and enforce data standards in MicroStation (levels, feature definitions, attributes) so exported geometry can be reliably classified and queried in GIS and digital twin environments. How to produce drawings from terrain models, generating plan maps, longitudinal profiles, and contour plots directly from the DTM to ensure consistency for hydraulic analysis and design decisions. How to export models with controlled data structures, delivering DGN, DWG, SHP, and IFC with correct coordinate systems and attribute mapping for flood modelling and scenario analysis. How to structure and package twin-ready deliverables, organising models, drawings, and versioning to support digital twin platforms and iterative climate-adaptation studies.
