Adequate valving and looping of water systems can minimize the impacts of pipes breaking or valves needing repair. Knowing how to shut down sections of a water distribution system effectively is crucial to prevent minor maintenance tasks from escalating into significant issues. In this session, Tom Walski will discuss performing shutdowns of water distribution networks for reliability, and how hydraulic model simulations can be beneficial. Both operators and engineers will gain an understanding of how to minimize the impact of shutdowns.
