Linking 3D Ground Interpretations to Defensible Analysis for Transport Projects
Finite element analysis for tunnels, retaining structures, and foundations depends on geometry and material zones that accurately reflect the interpreted ground. This session shows how Leapfrog Works outputs can be used to define PLAXIS 2D and 3D models so that tunnel linings, retaining walls, and approach embankments are analyzed against a consistent subsurface interpretation.
We will cover how to connect ground units and groundwater surfaces from Leapfrog Works to PLAXIS models when the ground model or investigation data changes during design.
What you will learn: How to bring stratigraphic surfaces, structural features, and groundwater levels from Leapfrog Works into PLAXIS geometry for tunneling and bridge-related problems. How to use staged construction and load cases in PLAXIS to evaluate lining deformation, retaining wall deflection, and settlement for transport structures. Practical approaches for documenting the link between investigation data, 3D ground model revisions, and final PLAXIS results for technical review and approval.
