Discover a complex road infrastructure project involving subways constructed closely to existing HMRTC metro viaducts. Deep excavations near live metro pile foundations, as well as the need for accurate impact assessment, produced key geotechnical and construction challenges. The team used PLAXIS 2D for finite element modelling to evaluate soil-structure interaction and construction-stage soil behavior. They also assessed lateral and vertical displacement of existing metro pile foundations at the final excavation stage to verify structural safety and serviceability.
