This session focuses on how execution roles use MicroStation 2026 to construct and maintain city-scale terrain and context models that can carry climate information through to analysis and digital twin platforms. We will work through reference strategies for survey, LiDAR, and GIS layers; creation and update of terrain models; and controlled use of raster and climate overlays (flood, erosion, heat) in a single, geo-referenced environment. The emphasis is on concrete modelling decisions - coordinate systems, elevation integrity, and surface resolution - that determine whether downstream hydraulics and risk maps are usable, repeatable, and auditable.

What you will learn:

  • How to build terrain models and produce drawings in MicroStation from survey data, point clouds, and DEM/DTM rasters, ensuring consistent coordinate systems and elevations for flood and erosion studies.
  • How to integrate climate and hazard layers (WMS/WMTS) together with Cesium ion and Google 2D/3D context while maintaining correct georeferencing and scale.
  • How to structure models using references, levels, and annotation scales so hydraulic results can be overlaid without geometry misalignment.
  • How to perform terrain QA checks (voids, unrealistic slopes, elevation spikes) before exporting models to hydraulic tools or open data platforms.
