To address Jakarta’s significant landfill strain, the Jakarta government invested INR 1.2 trillion to construct the world’s largest refuse-derived fuel (RDF) facility. Led by PT Wijaya Karya (WIKA), the RDF processes up to 2,500 tons of waste per day into 875 tons of alternative fuel, reducing landfill waste by 30%, cutting waste transport by nearly half, and lowering carbon emissions by 100,000 tons annually. WIKA’s digital twin and IoT approach enabled predictive maintenance, reduced environmental risk, cut operational energy use by 15%, and set a new benchmark for sustainable urban development.

With conventional methods proving time-consuming and inaccurate, WIKA leveraged Bentley’s integrated technology applications to establish a connected digital ecosystem and digital twin. Bentley solutions efficiently modeled steel reinforcement and structural components and created resilient designs capable of withstanding Jakarta’s seismic and geotechnical conditions.
