Project Summary

A global leader in minerals and metals processing technology, Outotec develops processes and equipment that help customers achieve higher production rates. The company’s new counter current decantation (CCD) circuits separate solid and liquor components of a slurry feed in hydrometallurgical applications by using a liquor for washing. As part of an internal project, management wanted to ensure that predictive, smart maintenance was considered in the design phase of the CCD plant. This assists maintenance teams in accessing accurate, data-driven recommendations on what spare parts and services will be needed and when.

Outotec created a baseline for CCD-circuit plants with optimized maintenance using AssetWise. A maintenance framework facilitated by AssetWise supports Outotec’s objective of profitability and customer productivity.

This project improved production by incorporating predictive maintenance in the design phase of a CCD plant. Based on past projects of a similar nature, Outotec estimated that predictive maintenance considered during the design phase of CCD plants in the mining industry can produce a net production yield increase of 3 to 5 percent. In addition, it has helped drive productivity and profitability by maximizing plant uptime and reliability.

AssetWise created the baseline for CCD-circuit turnkey projects with optimized maintenance, which includes critical analysis for processes and equipment, asset hierarchies, and failure modes and effects analysis. Visual hierarchies in AssetWise allow stakeholders to see the structure while it is in the development stage, which enhances collaboration.
