Project
This HKD 200 million roadway project required Earth Solutions to design a solution for Hong Kong Highways Department Project Office to consolidate and manage all of its site-survey data so site engineers and project managers can better monitor displacement and settlement on project sites during the construction stage. To import the site data and facilitate information mobility among stakeholders and onsite project teams, Earth Solutions required a user-friendly, Web-based interface with remote accessibility.
Solution
Earth Solutions used Geo Web Publisher and Bentley Map Mobile to establish a map-based navigational website for the construction site information. Surveyors imported the data collected from the site-monitoring devices, and the system automatically published the data to Geo Web Publisher. Bentley Map Mobile provided a mobile platform for the surveyors and site engineers to view conditions via tablet devices on the construction site in real time. The new site data management solution triggers an alert when settlement and displacement values exceed a pre-defined tolerance level, enabling immediate corrective action.
Outcome
Using Bentley’s infrastructure asset performance software as the foundation for its site data management system facilitates collaboration and information mobility in real time. With a pre-defined alert system as part of the solution, site engineers can take preventive action and implement contingency plans early in the construction process, saving time and money, reducing risk, and minimizing project delays.
Software
Using Bentley Geo Web Publisher enabled Earth Solutions to integrate survey data from different sources in a user-friendly, Web GIS platform. Bentley Map Mobile ensured accessibility to the information from the construction site via tablets so the data could be retrieved when performing site inspections. Bentley GIS publishing and mapping applications provided the foundation for the site data management solution allowing surveyors, site engineers, and project managers access and interaction in real time to streamline workflows and optimize construction for roadway projects.
