When Bentley Expert Designer Electric is included in the solution, the user has many additional tools available for creating and editing, and reporting of features. Included are several standard reports that detail material and labor requirements to build new designed facilities. Facilities can be can be created, edited, or deleted in mass with database and network connectivity integrity maintained. Life cycle management of facilities is added to facility management.
The Design Assistant provides the user with drag and drop placement that can be much faster than manual drawing as multiple features can be placed simultaneously with fast and flexible offsets from other features. Whether drawing in the graphics window or dragging features to work points, the estimate is dynamically created as each feature is placed, edited, or removed. Connectivity and structural attachments are also maintained. Structural and electrical optimization provides pole, transformer, wire and fuse sizing. Recommended changes can be accepted or over ridden individually or per work request; features are upgraded automatically when recommendations are accepted. The solution includes a work manager to provide user and supervisor views of the work that is in the queue with due dates and tasks that may impact completion. The work manager includes a workflow engine that progresses a job through the environment not only in the design solution, but also by e-mail and integration with other systems.
Together, these products provide the most complete graphic design suite for electric distribution networks. Users can specify all materials and labor required to complete work requests, have flexibility in managing labor and materials costs, and can optimize designs, all in the context of business oriented workflows.
