Piping Analysis for Productivity, Integration, and Quality

AutoPIPE Nuclear Powered by ADLPipe

Shorter Nuclear Plant Design, Site-Licensing, and Manufacturing Cycles

Bentley is committed to the revitalized nuclear industry with its new nuclear piping analysis product and comprehensive software portfolio in areas of front-end engineering, conceptual design, analysis, 3D CAD design, control and communication, and project management.

First released in 1967, ADLPipe was the world’s first commercially available pipe stress analysis software. Since introducing the ASME NB Class 1 design code in 1972 for safety critical systems, ADLPipe is backed by over 100 NRC audits and has been used in the analysis of nuclear safety critical pipe work (ASME Class 1) and non-critical (Class 2 and 3) pipe work for over 30 years. ADLPipe has been the piping analysis product of choice by owner operators and contractors in the nuclear industry and used on many of the world’s 439 nuclear power plants.

Commercially available since 1986 in 55 countries, with 30 international piping codes and full-featured set of static, dynamic and special analysis features, AutoPIPE is a leader in small to high-end pipe stress analysis projects in nuclear, power, process, oil and gas and chemical plants. AutoPIPE was originally developed by Rebis. In addition, AutoPIPE boasts over 18 years of the highest nuclear quality assurance procedure and is approved by NUPIC for use in the design of nuclear plant utilities in the United States.

The new nuclear product AutoPIPE Nuclear Powered by ADLPipe combines the productive graphical ‘CAD like’ interface of AutoPIPE for modeling and graphical view of results with the comprehensive nuclear analysis capability of ADLPipe.

Benefits of AutoPIPE Nuclear

  • Using a state of the art graphical interface with unique graphical object, point and click, and copy/paste technologies provides the most productive pipe stress program available. Major EPC companies say "I can make modifications quickly and, thus, find solutions in problem areas productively."
  • Powerful interactive Excel-like spreadsheets to check, sort, print and make global changes to the data quickly
  • 3D OpenGL rendering and smart component graphics for realistic animation and visualization
  • Very fast advanced non-linear analysis engine
  • Examine ‘What-If’ scenarios
  • Safer structure, piping and equipment
  • Integration with structural design using STAAD.Pro (also qualified for nuclear NF design) for more accurate engineering designs
  • Automatic stress isometric generation with fully dimensioned, customizable Iso and data including engineers mark-ups
  • Batch processing for multiple loading evaluations
  • Early design review decisions by engineers, designers, and contractors using Bentley Navigator XM
  • Bentley, a leader in AEC software for 25 years, has provided reliable data exchange with CAD platforms like AutoPLANT, PlantSPACE, PDS, PDMS, and SmartPLANT 3D  for fast, accurate model creation

Major new Features of AutoPIPE Nuclear

  • Comprehensive analysis capability, including ASME NB 3600 Class 1, ASME NC 3600 Class 2, ASME ND 3600 Class 3, material properties database, Class 1 components and joint type, rupture stress criterion, and comprehensive fatigue evaluation
  • Advanced analysis features – Integrated through wall thermal gradient, fluid transient, thermal bowing or stratification, seismic response spectra enveloping and steam relief analyses
  • Legacy code years – ASME NB and NC code years from 2004 back to 1972 for maintenance and operation on existing nuclear plants
  • Japanese JSME PPC - Class 2 piping code
  • Unlimited static analyses – User defined static load sets provide unlimited static analyses for specifying many different design scenarios
  • New fully automated and user defined stress combinations with powerful filtering capabilities to identify and solve complex problems quickly
  • ADLPipe translator – Import and convert legacy ADLPipe models

Quality Assurance of AutoPIPE Nuclear

AutoPIPE Nuclear Powered by ADLPipe is supported by Bentley’s rigorous Quality Assurance and Reporting (QA&R) program in accordance with ASME NQA-1, ISO 9001, CSA N286.7-99, ASME N45.2 and 10CFR50 standards backed by several independent audits by NRC customers and NUPIC. Offered as a separate service to nuclear clients, Bentley’s QA&R program is currently subscribed to by clients like Washington Group International, Shaw Stone and Webster, Fluor Federal Services and Areva NP.
