Sierre-Energie owns and manages a hybrid fiber coaxial network in the region of Sierre, Switzerland. The only way for Sierre-Energie to position itself for the future was to build a high-performance transport network. To do this, it needed accurate geographical data and drawings for field technicians to build the network. It also needed access to the underlying data to integrate it with the service provisioning/activation system of switches.
The firm used MicroStation, Bentley Fiber, and Bentley Redline to consolidate all structured data in one database. Not only did this eliminate redundant data, but it also leveraged the data for other departments responsible for network information, such as the electric generation and distribution, water, and gas departments. The tight integration of public and enterprise information was key to its cost savings.
