Mellis is the Bentley Civil product manager for GEOPAK Survey and PowerSurvey software, and has been working at Bentley since 2002. He is responsible for providing training and consulting on the GEOPAK Civil Engineering Suite. Specializing in software testing and support, his experience includes surveying and software verification and implementation. He has conducted onsite training for the Federal Highway Administration and a number of departments of transportation including Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Wyoming
.
He joined Bentley from the GEOPAK Corporation, where he was a senior survey consultant who trained and tested software. He continues to hold the position of chief surveyor for Beiswenger, Hoch & Associates. He worked as a survey manager for several South Florida firms and the FDOT.
