The works consisted of a new inlet works, compact activated sludge plant,(CASP) tanks, selector tank with combined distribution chamber, sludge treatment facility and numerous submersible pumping stations. All were to be constructed on the tight sloping site of an existing works, which was to remain fully operational throughout the construction period.
