Tag Tree Navigation

The tag tree provides a unique, easy-to-use method to locate data and documentation for all tagged plant components. The tag tree displays relationships between tagged items in a plant. From a vessel, you can drill down to the lines connected to the vessel, then to the valves and instruments in the line.

Selecting any tagged component automatically displays the AutoPLANT P&ID drawing, a list of associated documentation and the physical properties of the component. All data displayed in the tag tree is linked directly to the AutoPLANT P&ID drawings to ensure the information is always up-to-date.

Document Management

Bentley Vision provides the document management tools required to address the unique needs of process plants. With Vision, a document can be electronically linked to any component record. Selecting the component in the graphical user interface automatically displays the list of associated documents. Select the document from the list and it is automatically displayed for viewing. It is easy to locate all documents associated with a particular tag number with the Bentley Vision tool.

All plant documentation is maintained under revision control within Bentley Vision. The archive function ensures that only the most current issued document is available for viewing. Only plant personnel with the appropriate permissions may checkout, update, and archive an original document. Built-in audit tracking functionality maintains a permanent history of all document changes and the personnel making the changes.

Integration with Bentley Functional Design

Bentley Vision shares project database files with Bentley's Functional Design applications, ensuring that the latest data and documentation is displayed within the Bentley Vision interface.

Changes to documents and data within the Functional Design applications are immediately displayed within Bentley Vision. Users with appropriate permission can launch Bentley plant design applications directly from within Bentley Vision's interface, revise a document, and save it as a new revision into the Bentley Vision archive.

Lifecycle Management of Plant Data

Bentley Vision is ideally suited for managing plant data and documentation for the entire lifecycle of your plant. Intelligent Bentley design data and documents generated by EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) contractors are automatically available for use in plant operations and maintenance.

Plant procedures are easily imported using the document management import function. Maintenance and inventory data for equipment can be viewed directly from within Bentley Vision, allowing plant personnel to analyze all the data necessary to make critical plant decisions.

By using our split/merge utility, P&IDs and their associated data can be split out of a project for revisions off-line to support plant retrofit projects. After plant start-up, the revised data is re-imported into the shared database-- eliminating tedious manual equipment take-offs and error-prone data entry.

Third-Party Application Integration

Bentley Vision includes a robust "add-in" applications programming interface (API), allowing third-party applications and data sources to be seamlessly integrated into its user interface. External databases that provide standard access methods, such as ODBC and SQL, are readily integrated into Bentley Vision using Visual Basic.
