Bentley Substation Is Now a Stand-alone Product
In this release, Bentley Substation becomes a stand-alone application; it now incorporates its own robust CAD environment for 2D and 3D design. This eliminates the need to buy and install MicroStation, simplifying installation and reducing the total cost of ownership. It also allows Bentley Substation to have a more streamlined user interface through the elimination of general CAD menus, icons, and other elements not applicable to the product’s intended purpose.
Support for Windows 7
Bentley Substation now supports 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 7.
Drawing/Design Features
New features increase the power and convenience of designing with Bentley Substation.
- Equipment numbers: Equipment numbers are generic part numbers that can be used until specific manufacturer’s parts are selected. There are replacement tools to add and switch between generic and manufacturer part numbers. Equipment numbers are useful for engineering firms (EPCs) who work with system integrators to complete the design. They are also useful for companies that supply end-user documents with company-specified reorder numbers instead of true manufacturer’s part numbers.
- Dynamic views: 2D and 3D views both update dynamically when either is edited.
- The separate Manipulate commands for substation objects were removed. You are now able to use the standard copy, move, and delete functions for substation objects.
- The software now supports the use of language text in title blocks and symbol attributes.
- There is now support for the GOST standard balloon format.
- When you place multiple balloons, you can now control the direction in which the balloons are inserted.
Interoperability Features
- There is now support for distributed engineering between remote sites using ProjectWise.
- ProjectWise integration now includes support for the ProjectWise component tree, providing users faster access to data about the parts used in a design.
- ProjectWise integration now includes support for reference files.
- There is now a schedulable batch process to update all pages with pending changes in ProjectWise.
- There is now support for Bentley i-models (containers for open infrastructure information exchange) for broad interoperability and data reuse.
Output Features
- You can now generate multiple terminal strips in different columns on the same page using the Graphical Terminal Plan feature.
- There are additional cable variables that you can filter on for Field Wire Reports.
UI Improvements
- The Symbol Description field is now shown in the Insert Symbol by Device ID dialog.
Wiring Features
- Additional fields of information are now displayed for the "Wire Connected to Drawing Line" message dialog, making it easier to correct this condition.
- You are now able to filter cables from the Wire Without Wire Number and Wire Without Gauge checks of the Engineering Design Consideration tool.
