At its core, Bentley MXROAD Suite uses 3D string modeling technology—a proven, powerful, and concise method of creating any 3D surface. Localized to many country standards, MXROAD Suite includes an extensive library of road styles, the ability to design and dynamically re-grade junctions and roundabouts, and built-in rules for fast and efficient application of superelevation.

By designing your road completely in 3D, the included surface analysis tools allow engineers and designers to identify and correct potential problems during the design phase rather than incur the high cost of re-work on site.

No CAD Required!
Bentley MXROAD Suite runs on the most popular CAD platforms, but the stand-alone version provides fully functional, high-quality CAD tools built in. Eliminating the need for an additional CAD environment or package, users can reference CAD files on the fly, including DGNs, DWGs, and raster images, save as a DGN or DWG, or publish designs to 2D and 3D Adobe PDF formats, all from the stand-alone version.

Project Team Collaboration
Embedded project management capabilities help users stay on top of all project components and deliverables; this capability is tightly integrated with the Bentley® ProjectWise® project collaboration system for connecting people and information across project teams.
Data Collector Compatibility
Bentley PowerSurvey supports all industry-leading data collector formats and offers flexible import/export functions. PowerSurvey can also upload MXROAD, GEOPAK, InRoads, or PowerCivil data to the data collector for field setout.

Full Alignment Design Capability
Bentley MXROAD Suite includes multiple alignment design methods, ranging from the ability to create alignments directly from CAD elements, dynamic “rubber-banding” with on-the-fly volumetrics, to highly advanced tools for interactive alignment creation to local standards.

Comprehensive geometric reports are available at every step of the process, making the optimization of cut and fill percentages, and therefore exploration of different design scenarios, a simple process. Ultimately this saves the user time and money and results in a better design.

Design Flexibility in MXRENEW
Surveys provide a basis for the design in 2D and in 3D and are particularly important in Bentley MXRENEW as it offers the ability to design and refine the levels of the new running surface to very fine limits.

Flexibility is provided by allowing the user to design “non-parametrically” (where the design surface is to finished levels and MXRENEW’s focus is on the pavement layers beneath) or “parametrically” (where the road levels can be modified to minimize overlay volumes).

In each case, MXRENEW provides comprehensive pavement layer modeling, volumetric and setting out reports, profiles and cross-section drawings, and the ability to assess depth and test alternatives without affecting your current design.

Analyze Material Depths and Explore “What If?” Scenarios in MXRENEW
Bentley MXRENEW provides engineers with the ability to analyze the design in different ways. Using the isopachyte triangulation, a 3D model of difference between the existing and design surfaces, the engineer can inspect the range of material depths across the project.

Users can create a color-filled plan with a key of depth and colors plus total overlay volume. Alternatively, for a much smoother representation of depth, they create “isopachyte contours” or contours of thickness. Both allow the user to quickly and easily explore design alternatives in order to achieve the best solution from a design and economic standpoint.

Comprehensive Design Amendment and Control in MXURBAN
Bentley MXURBAN’s comprehensive graphical user interface allows the designer to assess, analyze, and iterate through a series of interactive panels.

Users can optimize a feature to automatically fit a profile through thresholds, re-grade the profile to exact design requirements, or amend strings using horizontal and vertical offsets plus crossfalls.

Users can add features from other models, such as the survey, or design relative to a design string, even “associate features” so that a change to one affects them all, speeding the process of design iteration and refinement.
