KeySpan Communications is a wholly owned subsidiary of KeySpan Energy. When KeySpan broadened the scope of its fiber network through the creation of its unregulated subsidiary, KeySpan Communications, it was apparent that existing network files consisting of separate AutoCAD drawings that lacked data intelligence would not be adequate to manage a commercialized growing network. Bentley Fiber and Bentley Inside Plant were used to design and manage the new network from the ground up.
The Intelligent Network Model is now used in network management and operations, and shared with customer billing, revenue tracking, pole and conduit licensing, taxation, and network planning. KeySpan Communications operates a large fiber optic network in the NY/NJ Metro area, providing Dark Fiber, Managed Transport (via SONET or Ethernet), custom designed networks, and Trans-Atlantic solutions.
