Innovations by MicroStation continue to drive interoperability with support for a wide range of file formats for creating, editing, and publishing design content.
The first and largest innovation driving interoperability is MicroStation’s ability to directly edit native DWG content. This capability enables users to work with a combination of DWG, DGN, and PDF files within a single CAD platform.
The second innovation is PDF Publishing and Integration which enables users to share 2D and 3D designs in the world’s most widely accepted file format—PDF. And with V8 XM users can attach PDF files as a reference to DGN and DWG models to close the loop on design and review cycles.
There are many advantages inherent in a MicroStation-generated PDF including:

The third innovation enabling interoperability is Design History. Providing users with a complete revision control system by enabling teams to track and view incremental changes and to validate those changes using Digital Signatures which confirm the status of any design document.
