Summary:

Early geospatial standards strived to achieve agreement on syntax and formats for spatial data. The logical next step is to reach agreement within specific domains on the potential set of features, attributes, and relationships which are meaningful within that domain. Several such standardization efforts have resulted in a new set of “application schemas” in the transportation sector. This presentation describes the domains and the lifecycle phases that each addresses.
