GIS for Managing Water Utility Assets

Преимущества

Comprehensive Engineering Solution

Bentley Water addresses all operations of a typical water supply network through an integrated GIS environment. Users can create a detailed system of water lines, valves, structures, and other user-defined system components, while maintaining crucial network connectivity. Maps, work prints, and other documentation can be printed, plotted, or published in a wide variety of formats including PDF, DGN, DWG, and others.

Intelligent Network Model

A simple, yet comprehensive connectivity model consisting of valves, pipes, structures, and connections form the basis of the Bentley Water intelligent network model. Pipes can be connected to each other or to facilities, and facilities can be connected to pipes through the connectivity inference engine.

Bentley Water placement and editing commands automatically maintain the logical connectivity model while at the same time creating intelligent facilities.

Smart Placement and Editing

You can place, modify, and attribute intelligent water system facilities such as valves, pipes, strucutres, and water records as user-definable facilities while taking advantage of the power of MicroStation. The network can be created from various sources including existing data in DGN, DWG, SHP or from scanned maps or imagery. Bentley Water ensures the integrity of the network connectivity and of the intelligent facilities according to your standards. Dynamic property-based facility annotation enables you to dynamically change existing annotation just by changing the attributes.

Network Analysis

Reports, generated from user defined “what if” scenarios, allow you to determine such things as what service accounts would be affected by specific changes in the network. Bentley Water also provides support for a full range of tracing capabilities.

Pipe isolation trace and reporting identifies valves that need to be closed to isolate a specific section of pipe. A powerful tracing routine re-symbolizes the network to show which valves are required to shut off flow to any given pipe. It also shows the affected pipes and connections. The trace produces a report with an auto-locate switch that helps to identify facilities in question.

Leak Analysis

Augment your pipe replacement program with Bentley Water’s leak analysis utility. Produce simple tabular or more complex cross-tabular reports based on pipe size, material, or any other user defined attribute over any space of time. The utility provides the ability to automatically associate geospatially positioned leak records to pipes individually or by range within a user defined proximity.

Integration with Bentley WaterGEMS

Bentley Water provides a direct export function for sharing network information. The export function can also be used to provide information to other analysis and modeling applications such as EPANET. Using the export feature, network information is quickly and easily provided to Bentley WaterGEMS as a project file directly readable by WaterGEMS.

Bentley WaterGEMS is a multi-platform hydraulic and water quality modeling solution for water distribution systems. From fire flow and constituent concentration analyses, to energy consumption and capital cost management, WaterGEMS provides an easy-to-use environment for engineers to analyze, design, and optimize water distribution systems.

Publishing Water Network Information

By using Bentley Geo Web Publisher, information created with  Bentley Water can be published through a web browser to internal and external constituents, who require varying levels of access to data. Casual desktop or field users can use Bentley PowerMap to view, query, and redline the network information.

Create Useful Output in a Snap

With Bentley Water, it’s a snap to create output for virtually any purpose. All the power of MicroStation plotting is available to users along with the ability to generate map books in Adobe PDF format. Bentley Water gives you print preparation tools to add grids, north arrows, and titleblocks to maps or work prints, as well as create sophisticated thematic representations of the network.

All the Advantages of a GIS Platform

Bentley Water includes a complete GIS platform, Bentley Map. This enables users to take advantage of all its features, including spatial analysis, buffer zone generation, and many more. Image Integration via MicroStation Raster Manager provides access to a wide range of image data including aerial photographs, satellite imagery and scanned maps and drawings.

Support for Oracle Spatial in 2 tier and 3 tier environments provides flexibility for storing Bentley Water data in Oracle to OpenGIS® standards. Spatial data storage in Oracle is provided with Bentley Water through the Bentley Map Oracle Connector in a 2 tier environment. Or you can take advantage of optimistic locking and versioning and other benefits with Bentley’s Geospatial Server in a 3-tier environment. This allows you to manage all water facility data through a single storage mechanism.

Completely Customizable

Bentley Water is completely customizable, from dialogs to attributes through the XFM (XML Feature Modeling) environment. With SFM you can completely develop your network as it exists with the pipes, valves, connections, and structures actually used. The dialogs are dynamically configured to reflect the options defined in the XFM schema. Dialog items can be arranged at your discretion and property-based annotation and symbology can be completely configured.
