Standard Interface to Project Data

Bentley Data Manager uses simple-to-use, standard Windows-based user interfaces to allow you to define and view project data. No knowledge of the "raw" relational database language is required to set up these interfaces and users having write access to data will know that the data has modified in all documents and reports that use that data as a result of the change.

Supports Many Database Systems

Data Manager offers a standard Windows-based user interface that supports additional ODBC data sources. This allows users to easily link external databases into the project environment using ODBC connections to Access, SQL Server, or Oracle platforms.

Central Management of Plant Data

The Bentley Data Manager is a single module that completely manages the project database from a central module. A standard Windows-based user interface makes this management easy, without extensive knowledge of the relational database system being used.  It also manages the access to the database allowing different types of access according to the "level" of user. For example, project administrators will require a higher level of access to the database, project managers will require access to specific data, and interns need to be prevented from accidentally deleting key data.

Link Data from External Sources

Bentley Data Manager allows users to link data from external sources into Views and Reports so that data can be aggregated without it having to be imported into the project database.

Easy Project Data Viewing and Reporting

Standard Windows-based user interfaces allow easy data viewing, editing and reporting by simply selecting the data views or reports that the user wants to use.  This allows consistent data handling and consistent, accurate report generation across the whole project.

Simple Creation of Standard Data "Views" and Reports

Standard Windows-based user interfaces allow data windows to be easily defined and specific data sets to be viewed and edited easily and consistently into the project database. The average user does not need to have any knowledge of the database languages or schema, making it easy for project engineers to review project data. Reporting is a breeze-–simply select the reports to be create from a simple select list. Reports are consistent and accurate.

Link to Other Bentley Plant Modules

Bentley Data Manager is tightly integrated with Bentley P&ID, Bentley Instrumentation and Wiring, Bentley Datasheets, Bentley Hookups, and OpenPlant PowerPID. All data entered into these modules can immediately be viewed, manipulated, and included on reports in Data Manager. Any additions or modifications made to data in Data Manager are instantly available to these modules for further work or document release.

Easy Macro Generation

Bentley Data Manager allows you to create custom macros in a Microsoft Access-type environment to assist with data management. Macros can be easily created to perform operations such as bulk updates to existing data, delete obsolete data or print multiple reports.
