PartL and Energy Assessors
In April 2008 legislation came into force which means that new buildings, major refurbishments and large public buildings throughout England and Wales must have an energy certificate to rate the energy performance of the buildings. There are two types of energy certificates:
The Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), which is required for all buildings when they are constructed, sold, or rented.
Accredited Building Energy Assessors (non-dwelling) will produce these energy certificates. To become an Energy Assessor you have to join an Accredited Energy Assessor scheme. The government has licensed several scheme providers who are able to offer a route to becoming an Energy Assessor. View a list of scheme providers and links to their websites.
