RESUMO

Organization:                 L&T-Ramboll Consulting Engineers

Project Name:                 New Bangalore International Airport

Category:                       Civil Site Design

Category Description:   These civil site design projects apply engineering technology to address the challenging balance of site constraints, client interests, community concerns, and environmental sensitivities.

Bangalore International Airport is the first greenfield airport developed in India. The project, which was conceived by the government of India in response to growing congestion at existing airport facilities, is located at Devanahalli, about 40 kilometers north of Bangalore city. Expected capacity of the new facility is 27 aircraft per hour and 11.5 million passengers per year. Estimated engineering, procurement and construction cost for this phase of the development is $288 million.

L&T-Ramboll used Bentley products, including MX solutions and STAAD.Pro, for rapid design and evaluation, and to organize data; streamline and minimize conflicting designs; enable rapid exchange of information between designers, disciplines, and work sites; and accommodate changing requirements. Designers worked independently on components of the master plan and produced a final integrated design. L&T-Ramboll saved almost 40 percent on software costs by using the Bentley SELECT subscription program.
