City of Edmonton Migrates MicroStation Users at All Levels With Bentley Training

The City of Edmonton’s training subscription experience has worked out perfectly for all parties involved.

The City of Edmonton (COE) is the capital of Alberta, Canada, and has a growing population of more than one million people. It is an expanding economic powerhouse with a booming economy and a diverse and                  creative workforce.

Challenges

  • COE was conducting an organization-wide MicroStation update.
  • The MicroStation user base at COE is large with differing levels of ability - from very sophisticated users to individuals new to the development platform.
  • Users are dispersed across the city.

Solution

  • Administrator training took place before business area rollouts to ensure that administrators were well prepared to answer questions from their staffs.

Results

  • The blend of learning options allowed COE to train a diverse group of users in various locations.
  • The administrator training helped COE develop and obtain consensus by teaching methods to standardize and consolidate MicroStation objects, significantly reducing the effort necessary for conversion activities.
  • OnDemand eLearning immediately provided training to all with zero time lost to travel. In addition, it supplemented on-site training by allowing individuals to review concepts and techniques, enabled users who were unable to travel to on-site training to obtain the training they needed to stay productive, and let individuals explore MicroStation functionality.
