Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council (OMBC) is the lead authority for the development of recycling, waste disposal and landfill sites in the Greater Manchester area. This includes management and control of leachate and landfill gas systems, gas monitoring and borehole drilling operations. Existing paper-based methods of collecting, storing and reporting on waste and landfill sites were inaccurate, incomplete, open to abuse and required too much space.

A custom application running on MicroStation GeoGraphics and GeoOutlook computerized the recording and monitoring of information from the numerous waste and landfill sites, including associated boreholes. The new system has made workflow simpler; data capture easier and more reliable; and OMBC management reports more responsive and accurate.
