FAQ for Bentley’s Acquisition and AssetWise Announcements
Q: What announcement did Bentley make?
A: Bentley announced that it has acquired Enterprise Informatics, Incorporated (www.enterpriseinformatics.com) and Exor Corporation (www.exorcorp.com). The Enterprise Informatics eB Insight software provides configuration and change management capabilities for mission-critical infrastructure asset operations for the energy, nuclear, rail, and government sectors. Exor information modeling software provides for the management and operations of linear networks for infrastructure, including roads, railways, and water networks. With these strategic acquisitions, Bentley launches its “AssetWise” initiative.
Q: What is AssetWise?
A: AssetWise is the new Bentley initiative aimed at improving infrastructure asset operations for owner-operators. Bentley’s AssetWise platform will combine multiple information modeling services to improve the lifecycle management and operational performance, safety, compliance, and governance of infrastructure assets while increasing the return on investment for owner-operators.
Q: Why is Bentley undertaking this initiative at this time?
A: In AssetWise we see a tremendous opportunity – driven by advances in computing and information modeling, to substantially increase owner-operators’ return on investment, furthering our corporate mission of sustaining infrastructure. Throughout Bentley’s 25 years, its focus on interoperability and federated information reuse has always met with business success. The company has observed that an infrastructure asset’s lifecycle necessarily includes periodic capital project cycles. Such projects – through design and simulation applications such as Bentley’s and ProjectWise dynamic collaboration services – yield better performance capabilities, but are a challenge to integrate with existing operational processes. With AssetWise, Bentley’s new objective is to empower owner-operators to leverage the value of information modeling throughout operations and maintenance – while maintaining the transactional integrity that their enterprise applications demand. The company is confident that AssetWise users will continually gain new value – because increased interoperability and reuse will always drive ROI.

Q: How does Enterprise Informatics fit into the “AssetWise” initiative?
A: eB Insight software ensures that asset information is governed, secure, controlled, and can be trusted – delivering relevant information in context to users and turning information into an organizational asset. Users increase business process efficiency while reducing the cost of compliance and minimizing risks. eB is a leading operations mainstay in the nuclear industry – one of the most heavily regulated industries in the world – where it’s deployed in research, waste management, fuel processing, and power generation units. Among other sectors globally taking advantage of eB Insight are energy companies, rail, government, and construction.
Q: How does Exor Corporation fit into the “AssetWise” initiative?
A: Exor information modeling software provides for the management and operations of linear networks, including roads, railways, and water networks, as well as all components connected to them. For instance, sixty percent of all roadway miles in the U.K. are managed by Exor. The software enables owner-operators to manage multiple networks while relating structures, safety, pavement conditions, permits, and right-of-way information to the network. The Exor worldwide user community includes a number of departments of transportation in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

Q: Will eB users and Exor users still receive support from the same specialists who have provided it to them in the past?
A: Yes. The eB and Exor support specialists have joined Bentley, so users will continue to receive the same level of professional, high-quality support from the same teams at the same locations. Over time, these teams will be supplemented by Bentley’s extensive global support network.
Q: Are the eB Insight and Exor software offerings being added to the Enterprise License Subscription (ELS) program?
A: No, these offerings are not being added to the ELS program. If, in the future, a decision is made to add them, users will be notified.

Q: We have a support and maintenance agreement with Enterprise Informatics or Exor. What is the status of our contract and relationship with Bentley?
A: Obligations under existing Enterprise Informatics or Exor support contracts will continue to be honored by Bentley and its subsidiaries. However, over time, we will replace these contracts with a standard SELECT agreement. A Bentley SELECT subscription helps organizations of any size optimize productivity and lower the total cost of ownership for Bentley software. SELECT provides flexible licensing, 24/7/365 support, software upgrades, and a number of OnDemand eLearning courses for a fixed annual fee per license.
Q: We are both a Bentley user and an eB or Exor user. How do we migrate the newly acquired product lines to our existing Bentley SELECT agreement?
A: We will start migrating the eB and Exor software licensed to existing Bentley accounts once we have completed the integration of some of our back office systems, and as the existing support agreements come up for renewal. If you have concerns about the timing of adding these offerings to your SELECT agreement, please contact your Bentley representative, or your former Enterprise Informatics or Exor representative (who is now part of the Bentley team).
Q: How do I get more information about the potential impact this acquisition may have on my company?
A: Please continue to contact your former Enterprise Informatics or Exor representative (who is now part of the Bentley team) with any questions you may have. If you are also a Bentley user or account, you may contact your Bentley representative for additional information.
