Innovations in ProjectWise V8i (SELECTseries 3)
ProjectWise V8i (SELECTseries 3) builds on the previous release with support for AutoCAD and Revit users and further administration and performance enhancements.
64-bit AutoCAD and Revit Support
The entire project team is now able to collaborate using ProjectWise, even those team members using 64-bit AutoCAD and Revit. This ensures improved project quality through better project team collaboration.
Administration Enhancements
ProjectWise now offers more granular control of administrative privileges by providing an access control list editor and allowing for the delegation of user group management. An enhanced administration audit trail tracks changes made to administrative settings such as access control and group membership.
These enhancements enable the delegation of administrative responsibilities to a broader team with the appropriate limited permissions to prevent bottlenecks in project commissioning and allow administrators to view and modify access control settings more quickly, thereby resulting in time savings.
Navigator Web Part
2D and 3D i-models can now be published to a browser, which enables users without any installed desktop software to open, explore, and manipulate models. As a result, project quality improves by making rich project information accessible to all project stakeholders and software installation time and software costs are reduced.
Performance Optimizations
Faster file access, particularly for remote participants who are struggling to work across high latency networks, expands the potential pool of talent in remote locations that can be employed on projects. This results in time savings, particularly for remote participants, and reduces project risk by enabling the deployment of your best talent, regardless of geographic location.
AutoCAD and Revit 2011 Support
The entire project team is empowered to collaborate using ProjectWise, improving the quality of the project and reducing the risk of errors.
Other Innovations in ProjectWise V8i
Desktop Integration with Revit
Revit users can store models inside ProjectWise along with other project information. This extends the use of ProjectWise data and standards management capabilities to Revit projects. Users of Revit can now store and manage models inside ProjectWise, control Revit data and standards inside ProjectWise, and improve the quality of Revit projects by ensuring better team collaboration. ProjectWise users enjoy overall project collaboration cost savings across distributed teams.
Delta File Transfer
Software acceleration speeds access from any PC, anywhere. By transferring only the changes made to large files across the Wide Area Network, file access is accelerated for distributed teams. In making model synchronization faster, productivity across teams is increased and inefficient workarounds are eliminated. Through the improvement in system performance, office-based and remote users save precious time and companies benefit from a reduced network load. Every user benefits – not just ProjectWise users.
Visual Dependency Map
Being able to visually view files and their interdependencies with other files and project data reduces the risk of project delays from unintended consequences of change. Clear insight into complex existing document dependencies via a visual relationship map improves the quality of collaborative design by enabling more informed design decisions.
Audit Trail
Serving as a central record of change history, the audit trail reduces the time spent identifying and attributing changes made to critical project data. A tabular or graphical history of all changes made to project dependencies can be easily produced, enabling the capture of knowledge about process dependencies.
