This oil field development project in the Middle East covers 20 infield flowlines for oil production water supply and water reinjection with a total length of approximately 100 kilometers within difficult terrain. These flowlines connect the remote well heads with the gas oil separation plant, and the treated oil and gas is exported via two cross-country pipelines with a total length of over 500 kilometers.

The challange of the project was to carry out a conceptual phase and to prepare a tender for the described project within four months. Two CAD operators had to prepare more than 200 drawings as alignment sheets, route maps, and overview drawings, and many reroutings had to be considered. Drawings related to the route selection are almost automatically generated using InRoads and MicroStation VBA. Different coordinate systems are now easily managed using MicroStation GeoGraphics.
