PROJECTWISE INTEGRATION SERVER

Protecting your engineering content

ProjectWise is a scalable collaboration system which is used by architecture, engineering, and construction teams to manage, find, and share CAD and geospatial content, project data, and Office documents.

One of the significant advantages of implementing a system like ProjectWise is that all appropriate policy, security, procedural, technical, and audit issues can be explored and identified or reassessed.

Reliable System Performance

As a result, appropriate measures will have been put in place to manage these issues, as is relevant to the application concerned. This should have a positive impact on reliability, both in terms of system availability time, and on information accuracy.

Then there is the system architecture: significant developments in the V8 XM Edition of ProjectWise introduced Network load balancing to ensure high system performance during periods of high demand and server clustering to provide fail-over security for mission-critical projects. Other advances include an ability for users to quickly access very large images through streaming raster services.

Improved Workflow for Optimal Flow of Work

The improvements in system reliability described above often make it easy for organizations to accept original documents being stored remotely in more suitable and possibly more cost-effective document storage conditions. These original documents could be paper drawings that are scanned and managed by ProjectWise. Where paper originals are concerned, organizations can demonstrate good practice by simply boxing up the originals after scanning and destroying them after a short time. This approach to managing paper copies can significantly improve a team's workflow and productivity.

Another improvement can come through improved insight into the "flow" of "work" around the distributed enterprise. Some ProjectWise users have developed a process for analyzing all changed files within a given period before cross-checking them against the person who last edited them and their office location. This insight in the flow of work enables the administrator to move file stores around the enterprise to make sure the original files are always stored closest to the largest body of users for optimal performance.

Dependable Digital Security

By requiring appropriate security policies to be developed and implemented, engineering content management systems can be operated in a secure manner, a vital fact which will contribute to any proof of authenticity requirements if required.

ProjectWise delivers a multi-layered approach to document and content security including Windows Active Directory integration for single sign-on and document-level security settings for view and edit access. Digital rights management inside of MicroStation-based applications further extends the users’ capability to control access.

Integration with Adobe’s Lifecycle server solution also delivers a comprehensive approach for the electronic signature of PDF files stored inside ProjectWise and accessed using Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Do you have full confidence in the reliability of your system? Or complete visibility into the concentration of workload around your enterprise? Do you have the ability to grant or restrict access to a document at an enterprise, system, or file level? Perhaps you need a little extra help. Perhaps you need to be more "ProjectWise."
