Communications Checklist

Are Bentley network engineering solutions right for you?
Bentley’s solutions can quickly reduce operating costs and increase customer satisfaction.

If you answer YES to any of the following questions, you should consider a Bentley network engineering solution.

  1. Are your network records maintained manually or in unintelligent CAD drawings?

  2. Is there a disconnect between your operational support systems and your engineering records?

  3. Do you maintain a separate set of fiber maps and/or records?

  4. Are your splicing diagrams or records maintained in a different format than your OSP maps and/or records?

  5. In the event of a fiber cut, do your technicians have any idea which fibers to splice first to get highest priority customers and circuits on line the fastest?

  6. When your technicians do an OTDR shoot, do they manually add up spans from maps in order to locate the end points?

  7. In the event of a cut, do your customer service representatives know which customers are affected before customers start reporting trouble?

  8. If your company leases dedicated fiber or dedicated capacity on fiber (or is a lessee), do your outside plant (OSP) technicians know what accounts are served by each fiber, or the level of quality of service (QoS) guarantees in effect?

  9. Could you have fibers or circuits providing service to customers who are not being billed correctly?

  10. Does it take more than one step for a change in fiber usage to be reflected in your fiber records and maps?

  11. Do your network operations center personnel have to call an OSP technician to identify the physical location of a fiber or to identify what fiber a particular circuit is on?

  12. Does it take more than one person or tool to determine whether capacity on a particular fiber exists?
