Designing two power plants at the same time is hardly the industry norm, but it could become a more common practice if firms follow the pioneering initiative of Utility Engineering Corporation (UE). The Denver-based company used Bentley solutions to simultaneously design one plant in Georgia and another in Florida.

“This is the first time that we have designed two very similar plants at once,” said Rachel Spence, CADD administrator for the projects.

“Wonderful efficiencies were achieved as our design team interchanged components from one plant design to the other – something we could not have done in the past. It also helped us accelerate the design process.”
