Bentley Structural V8 XM Edition Provides More Opportunities To Increase Accuracy, Improve Efficiency

The new V8 XM Edition of Bentley Structural – a versatile Building Information Modeling solution for the design and documentation of structural systems – provides more opportunities for project teams to increase accuracy and improve efficiency. It enables structural engineers to cut time from project schedules and reduce costs, even when the projects are highly complex and require large, multidisciplinary teams.

A key feature of Bentley Structural V8 XM is increased structural analysis support, including enhanced interoperability with Bentley’s RAM Structural System and STAAD.Pro products. Bidirectional connectivity with RAM Structural System and the exchange of additional structural types with STAAD.Pro highlight the new edition’s analysis updates. These updates underscore Bentley’s commitment to integrating design and analysis in multiple disciplines, eliminating the information loss within engineering workflows, and embedding interactive, front-end analysis into design decisions.

The new release also offers improved usability. For example, its intuitive new interface is efficient, easy to learn, and easy to understand. In addition, it allows users to better organize and manage their structural sections tables.

Project Explorer – a new feature in MicroStation V8 XM Edition that’s extended in all of Bentley’s building applications – makes it easier for users to manage project data from within Bentley Structural. With the help of Project Explorer, project data can now include saved views, reference files, and supporting documents such as those created in Microsoft Office, in addition to DGN models and models created in other file formats.

Finally, a new Structural Steel Stair Wizard guides users through the process of defining, placing, and modifying structural stairs. It shows them how to define all of the key parameters, including stair dimensions, layout, handrail styles, landings, treads, and section profiles. Moreover, it provides the option of adding a space envelope that simulates the required headroom for interference detection.
