Most common newsreader clients provide a tool to search articles stored in its local cache. For example, if you are using Outlook Express as a newsreader, you can right click on any of the discussion group folders and select Find to search for articles. You can also search all Bentley discussion groups to which you are subscribed by right clicking on the server name in the Folders listing and selecting Find. Then enter the search string(s) that you want to look for in the appropriate field(s) in the Find Message dialog. To be most effective, you need to have all discussion group articles downloaded to your local cache.

As an alternative to using your newsreader client's search tool, or if you are using a Web browser to access the Bentley discussion groups, there are several Web-based search methods available:

Using Google

• Click here and enter key words for your search into the respective fields in the Find Results section. You can limit the search to specific groups by including them (e.g. bentley.geopak, v8.general, etc.) in the "with all of the words" field.

Using the discussion group's full text search utility

• To search only article contents across discussion groups, go to http://discussion.bentley.com/search
  NOTE: This search method does not take into account anything in article headers (e.g. Subject, From, etc.).
  
  To search article headers, select a discussion group from the list (http://discussion.bentley.com) and then click on the "Search group's headers" link, which appears under the name of the discussion group selected in the upper right frame.
  
• To search only article headers (e.g. Subject, From, etc.) within a selected group, select a discussion group from the list (http://discussion.bentley.com) and then click on the "Search group's headers" link, which appears under the name of the discussion group selected in the upper right frame. NOTE: This search method does not take article contents into account.
  
  To search only article contents across discussion groups, use the search utility(http://discussion.bentley.com/search).
