What is the theme of BE Conference 2008?

The focus for this year’s conference is “BEst Practices for Sustaining Infrastructure.” The theme reflects the mission of Bentley and its user organizations to sustain and improve the quality of human life by preserving limited resources and reducing the unhealthy impacts of human activity on the environment.

Infrastructure underlies all efforts to create, protect, and improve the quality of life for people around the world. It is essential to all human activity and progress. In human terms, it enables commerce, communications, education, health, safety, shelter, and transportation – a higher quality of life for everyone.

In terms of the environment, improved infrastructure must play a major role in reducing the unhealthy impacts of human activity on the environment, as well as in mitigating the effects of severe events, both natural and man-made. Responding to these imperatives for the world’s infrastructure requires a growing workforce of well-educated, motivated, and globally connected infrastructure professionals.

Will there be Bentley Institute training at BE Conference 2008?
BE Conference 2008 differs from previous conferences, offering minimal lecture-based Learning Path sessions from Bentley Institute rather than hands-on training.

Learning Path - A NEW blueprint for learning offered at BE Conference 2008
An exciting new initiative that will be debuted at BE Conference 2008 is a concept called learning paths, a high-level approach to training that maximizes learning investments and increase competitiveness by focusing efforts on the right learning resources at the right time.

Designed specifically for senior professionals who direct infrastructure-related activities, this unique special session will demonstrate how by matching technology with the optimum balance of hands-on training, firms can break out of the cycle of increasing workloads by using their software to streamline their workflows.

The right professional development is critical to maximizing workforce productivity and keeping an organization ahead of the competition. Bentley Institute’s new learning paths provide visual representations that help users, managers, and executives identify gaps in workforce capabilities and quickly find the right learning tools for individuals and organizations. Learning paths will increase productivity and maximize investment in learning by matching the right courses to solution objectives and software applications.

Learning paths provide the fastest way to find right courses and access anytime, anyplace learning from Bentley Institute. Each learning path provides well designed curricula that follows a structured path of incremental learning that satisfy the requirements of a user's role in the workplace. Through any learning path, you will find the applicable learning resources, including classroom learning, instructor-led distance learning via the Internet, and self-service OnDemand eLearning.

In this session, you will learn how to use Bentley Institute learning paths to identify knowledge gaps and determine which learning resources best apply to user roles within an organization’s workflow requirements. The goal of this presentation is to demonstrate how you can maximize your learning investment and increase competitiveness by focusing efforts on the right learning resources.

BE Conference 2008 session includes:

• Overview of learning paths
• Identifying knowledge gaps
• Matching learning resources to workflow requirements
• Increasing organizational efficiency through learning paths
• Optimizing organizational development through the right learning program
• Automatic search tools for classroom learning
• Overview of instructor-led distance learning
