BIM and Geospatial Integration:
Incorporating Infrastructure Beyond the Building Footprint for Sustainable Design, Construction, and Facilities Management
Building Information Modeling (BIM) has gained adoption and is delivering benefits to the AEC industry. Additional benefits will now be delivered with the incorporation of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) and the integration of related engineering content for infrastructure such as roads, communication networks, and gas, electric and water utilities. Industry leaders will speak to the need for BIM and Geospatial interoperability, and to integrate facilities with their supporting infrastructure.
Sessions in this track would be of interest to those involved in the practices of Architecture, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Design, Building Construction and the Operational Management of Buildings, Factories and Campuses.
Breakout sessions on Thursday will include: the Integrated Infrastructure and Campus, the Digital Factory, and Structural Solutions.
The Integrated Infrastructure and Campus breakout will explore complex facilities such as airports, military installations, and major event facilities that require a holistic approach to the design, construction and management of buildings and their supporting infrastructure.
The Digital Factory breakout will discuss an integrated planning strategy that spans product design, process planning, factory operations, and explain how global teams can collaborate to eliminate design mistakes, decrease planning time, minimize field orders and achieve an earlier SOP (Start of Production).
The Structural Solutions breakout will review the latest capabilities in Bentley’s solutions and feature best practice examples from some of the structural experts in the world.
