BRIEF

Organization:   DaimlerChrysler AG

Project Name:              Digital Factory – Integration of Process Data

Category:
Building Innovation

Category Description:
This category applies to the application of Bentley technology to provide new capabilities to the adopter. Many involve the implementation of technology new to the adopter or technology applied to a new area of practice, or particularly innovative application of existing Bentley technologies

At DaimlerChrysler’s German digital factory—the generic term for its integrated network of digital models and methods —two different systems were being used for factory planning and process planning. The goal of the project was to increase productively by creating a bidirectional connection between the systems on a geometrical and structural level.

Using MicroStation and Speedikon, DaimlerChrysler has filled the gap between the workflows by integrating the data between the systems. It combines architecture, steel works, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning with the planning disciplines conveyors, logistics, body in white, assembly, and painting via referencing the files together in a 3D digital mockup of the factory.
