Bentley products are enabling the design of transportation infrastructure within an ambitious new urban redevelopment project in Stockholm, Sweden, where the focus is on the environment.
The city of Stockholm is transforming a former industrial and docking district into an environmentally advanced residential area. The project is called Hammarby Sjöstad, named for nearby Lake Hammarby Sjö. The development was designed to reawaken the area around the waterfront. Planning for the project has been underway since at least 1991. Construction work at Hammarby Sjöstad started in 1993.
Project Objectives
-
Plan a new tramway and other transportation for a large urban redevelopment district

-
Prevent interferences with existing underground structures during the design phase of a 900-meter tramway tunnel
-
Facilitate the creation of both 2D construction documents and 3D visualizations for planning and publicity purposes
