This presentation covers the application of InRoads for onshore pipelines. The main engineering document for onshore pipeline installation is the alignment sheet, which shows all design information, data, and instructions for construction work. InRoads provides the opportunity of modelling digital terrain models within an integrated environment. After certain adjustment, changed settings in InRoads, which is originally designed for road construction, and visual basic for application (VBA) programming in MicroStation, it is now possible to produce the alignment sheets automatically. The use of InRoads and VBA significantly minimize the expenditure for the pipeline design process and especially the generation of alignment sheets up to 50 percent.
