Resumen:

This presentation covers the structural BIM design process which consists of modeling the project utilizing 3D, analytical software. This process allows the structural engineer to model and design the structural elements of the project in a short period of time.  If the structural steel detailer, fabricator, and general contractor are selected at the beginning of the design phase of the project, the structural steel fabricator and/or detailer is allowed to start detailing soon after the engineer has completed the analytical model. When the analytical model is complete, the engineer integrates the model with Structural Modeler, formerly Bentley Structural, software. This integration allows plans, elevations, details, and schedules to be extracted from the model into 2D drawings. This process allows a 60 percent savings of the drawing time for each plan or elevation.
