Wink Incorporated Turns to Bentley AutoPLANT to Design World's Largest District Heating and Cooling System
Bentley AutoPLANT proved to be the most precise, reliable and cost-effective design tool on a fixed bid, 32,000-ton cooling plant project for the New Orleans Medical Complex that left no margin for error. Wink, Incorporated was hired to provide overall project design and coordination for the construction of a 32,000-ton cooling plant – with thermal energy storage – known as District Energy for NOrMC.

2007 Be Award Finalist: York Internation a Johnson Controls Company
Renewable Energy Corp, Moses Lake Expansion. The $7 million Moses Lake Expansion project will double Renewable Energy Corp.’s capacity to produce polysilicon at its Washington state facility.

2007 Be Award Winner: North China Power Engineering (Beijing)
Building Up NCPE Content Management Platform With ProjectWise as the Core. North China Power Engineering (NCPE) needed a well-managed design, information exchange, and publication process that would be traceable and satisfy quality-control requirements.

Monsanto
3D modeling improves teamwork in demanding powerhouse renovation. When a Midwestern college took a look at its need for a system of four new boilers in a 100-year-old facility, it was more than an issue of just getting more efficient steam production.

Foster Wheeler Energy
Providing global data access with ProjectWise. Foster Wheeler Energy, a division of one of the world’s largest engineering and construction firms, implemented ProjectWise to create a project intranet for streamlined, dynamic data sharing. The result has been a process pleasing to clients, management and project engineers.

InterGen
Fast, broad-based access to plant data saves millions by reducing downtime. Outages are costly to a company such as Massachusetts-based InterGen, which operates power generation facilities on four continents. When a plant goes down, the company often must buy power on spot markets to fulfill its contracts—at $180,000 or more per day.

Southern Company Services
Plant Wansley Units 1-2 FGD Addition. Plant Wansley in Carrolton, Georgia, has two coal-fired boiler units and two combined cycle gas-fired units. Units 1 and 2 are being retrofitted with one scrubber per unit to significantly reduce sulfur oxide emissions. The major challenge was the completion of the design phase in a compressed schedule while keeping the two power plant units running at all times except for scheduled outages.

Utility Engineering
UE designs power plants simultaneously, sharing and reusing plans from each. Designing two power plants at the same time is hardly the industry norm, but it could become a more common practice if firms follow the pioneering initiative of Utility Engineering Corporation (UE). The Denver-based company used Bentley solutions to simultaneously design one plant in Georgia and another in Florida.

Energoprojekt-Katowice S.A. (EPK)
Poland's largest engineering company improves design and reduces costs. Energoprojekt-Katowice S.A. (EPK) is no stranger to heavy industrial and power plant design. Founded in 1949, the multidisciplinary engineering design firm has designed more than 100 power plants built in Poland and abroad, and is now the largest engineering company in Poland.
