ProjectWise Geospatial Management Features List
|
Unique Federated Information Management Approach
- Index rather than convert
- Keep the richness and meaning of your information in your favorite formats (no conversion)
- Find information via spatial or non-spatial criteria or a combination of both
- View/edit using your favorite viewing and editing tools; applications can be launched directly from the map interface
- Manage, index, edit, and print/plot
- Structured Information with schemas such as spatial databases, XFM DGNs, Shapefiles, MapInfo files
- DGN, DWG
- Unstructured files such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, and more
- Multiple application integration
- MicroStation and all applications based on MicroStation
- AutoCAD
- ArcMap (ESRI)
- MapInfo
- Microsoft Office
- More
Manage Virtually Any Kind of Information
- Graphical files
- Bentley Map
- DGN files, DWG files
- ESRI
- MapInfo
- Complex files
- References in MicroStation
- MXD and SHP in ArcMap
- Non graphical documents
- Relational Databases
Security and Access Rights
- Documents and files
- Folders
- Single sign on
Finding Information
- Search, query, and navigate all content—documents, components, and metadata—in database-like fashion
- Search using rich queries combining spatial (geographical location) and non-spatial (author, date, workflow, etc.) criteria
- Spatial queries can be constrained by a rectangular or polygonal target area
- Search distributed file servers and databases, not merely at the file and document level, but at the level of their content
- Produce project-wide reports and statistics or create ad hoc queries
- Index and navigate the features in XFM DGN files
- Query and review the properties of features without opening the DGN
- Adds spatial criterion in the search tool
- Queries can be constrained from within MicroStation sessions utilizing the fence commands as the region of interest to further enhance search results
Geospatial Metadata
- Assigning spatial locations:
- A spatial location can be:
- Manually defined
- Inherited from the parent folder
- Scanned from the file (auto extract and batch)
- Imported from an external file
- Calculated (for a folder and files)
- Inferred from an attribute value
- It can be a gradual process as with any other metadata
Background Maps
- The background map can be used as a referenced map that shows the region of interest
- Background maps are powered by Bentley Geo Web Publisher
- Maps can be composed of multiple layers generated from multiple data sources:
- DGN
- DWG
- SHP
- MIF/MID
- TAB
- Oracle Spatial
- WMS
- Raster
Spatial Indexing for All Documents and Files
- Any document type, including PDF, Microsoft Office files, and others can be spatially indexed at the document or file level in ProjectWise Geospatial Management
- Location is automatically deduced for files with inherent coordinate systems—(for example: DGN, GeoTiff images, SHP)
- Other documents can inherit the location of the folder in which they are inserted
- Administrators can use a map-based interface to define location for a document or folder of documents, as well as import MicroStation-based cartographic indexes
Navigation
- ProjectWise List View
- Spatial Navigation from background map
- View and navigate documents and folders on a map
- Multiple documents occupying the same location are easily managed via the map interface
- Select and access all ProjectWise menus from the spatial view
- Create your own dynamic symbology based on document properties
- Spatial navigation interface supports transparency, layering, legends, and icon/bitmap representation
- Create your own dynamic symbology based on document or file properties
- Customize the map view to reflect any combination of color and translucency for document display
- Spatial navigation interface supports transparency, layering, legends, and icon/bitmap representation
Workspaces
- Manage workspaces alongside the project data
- Workspaces can be managed in the same way as projects
- Access control
- Audit trail
- Distributed storage and caching
Integrated Coordinate System Support
- Content is indexed to a universal coordinate system while preserving their original system
- Enables searching across boundaries of different coordinate systems
- Create customized coordinate systems from standard coordinate systems
- Document/file footprints are reprojected on the fly
- Includes a comprehensive library of over 4,000 coordinate systems
ESRI ArcMap Integration
- ESRI ArcMap iDesktop integration
- ESRI file format support for MXD, MXT, SHP, BIL, and BIP
- Automatic spatial reference upon adding them to the ProjectWise store
- Manages the relationship between the ArcMap project file and its content
- Adds ProjectWise tools into ArcMap
MapInfo Integration
- MapInfo iDesktop integration
- MapInfo file format support
- Automatic spatial reference upon adding them to the ProjectWise store
- Manages the relationship between the MapInfo project file and its content
- Adds ProjectWise tools into the MapInfo application
