About SmartGeometry

Computation and the use of the computer as an intelligent design aid provide the focus for the SmartGeometry Group. The group was formed in 2001 as a partnership between practice, research, and academia. Some of the world's leading architectural and engineering practices (including Foster+Partners, KPF, Arup, and Buro Happold) and educational institutions (including Architectural Association School of Architecture, MIT, Delft Technical University, and University of Bath) are represented in its core organization.

The activities of the SmartGeometry Group promote the emergence of a new generation of digital designers and craftsmen who are able to exploit the combination of digital and physical media. The group’s interests range from parametric design and scripting to digital manufacturing.

The SmartGeometry Group is dedicated to educating building professionals in the application of advanced 3D design tools and computational design. The work of its members has resulted in some of the most admired buildings of the 21st century.
