Bentley Navigator for the iPad

Bentley Navigator for the iPad is our iPad version of the desktop software, Bentley Navigator V8i. In this iPad product preview, you will get a 360-degree view of 3D design models that lets you feel that you are actually at the site. Using the iPad’s motion sensors and touch screens, you will not only get panoramic views but also get object properties. For example, you can determine the thickness of the pipe, its paint color, or the pressure rating.

Reviewing designs, red-lining, safety inspections – easy as 1-2-3!

By creating "points-of-interest" in the models, you will quickly access the information you need, when you need it. Any annotations made in the iPad can then be merged with the models on your desktop software. We have made this possible because of Bentley’s proprietary "optimized i-models." These models combine any DGN, Revit, DWG, DXF, Rhino (3DM), and 3DS files that you may be currently using.

ProjectWise for the iPad

ProjectWise Explorer for the iPad is our new iPad version of Bentley's desktop software ProjectWise Explorer. Bentley’s ProjectWise Explorer is an engineering team collaboration system that is used to help teams manage content in order to improve quality, reduce rework, and meet project deadlines. This iPad app incorporates a subset of ProjectWise Explorer features especially for the iPad.

With this product preview , you can create secure work packages from documents stored in ProjectWise. A wide variety of file types can be added to a package and sent to the iPad for use at a construction site or other remote location. ProjectWise Explorer for the iPad allows you to open these packages, view their contents, see properties of individual files, and preview certain file types. It also lets you share files with other applications that offer advanced editing features, such as Apple's iAnnotate for PDFs and Apple's Keynote for PowerPoints, which allow you to annotate documents. Once you’ve created annotated documents on the iPad, a return package can be exported to ProjectWise Explorer on your desktop and synchronized for review.

Note that you will need Bentley’s ProjectWise software to make full use of this app.

ProjectWise Mobile Access Server

Now users can directly access their ProjectWise database from the iPad. This means that you no longer have to send your documents to the iPad through email, Dropbox, etc. Instead you can do the following:

Have your ProjectWise system admin install an iWare app called “ProjectWise Mobile Access Server”
System admin will provide a key to all ProjectWise users
By clicking on the ‘+’ icon in ProjectWise Explorer for iPad, users can configure the iPad to access their ProjectWise database:
- Enter the key and ProjectWise login
- Navigate the ProjectWise folders and select a file to view in the app
- Do things like ‘check-in’, ‘check-out’, etc. from an action menu
